State Law will Require Full Facility Backup in the Near Future

This Grant Money is Provided to Help Ease the Pain of the Requirement

$1.8 Billion in Grants Now Available to Help Nursing Homes and Critical Businesses Stay Powered When the Grid Fails

This summer, the State of Texas fully funded the TBPP Grant program—providing much-needed funds to help critical sites like nursing homes, water systems, and emergency facilities install backup power. But getting the grant is just the first step.

Final rules are expected in mid-July, and funds are limited, it’s important to get your application ready now.

Get Started on Your Grant Application

After the Grant,

Two Big Challenges Remain

A FUNDING GAP

FAQs

The TBPP, Part of Senate Bill 2627, allocates $1.8 billion to provide grants to “Critical Companies” to procure and install backup power packages at facilities necessary to support community health, safety, and well-being. A backup power package is a multiday back up power source that can power a facility in the event power from the grid is lost.

The bill is a response to the events that followed Winter Storm Uri, when many critical companies were left stranded without power for days in the harshest weather.

TBPP grants are for “Critical Companies”, the organizations in our communities that are necessary to support community health, safety, and well-being. Nursing homes, Hospitals, Fire & Police Departments, Grocery Stores, Storm Shelters, etc.

$1.8 billion has been allocated for the TBPP. Funds will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Exergy Energy does the entire process for you!

Funds are limited to the construction of new backup power at Critical Companies.

NO, there is ZERO obligation with Exergy Energy or The Texas Energy Fund.

NO! This is completely free to apply for.

There is no minimum size. The maximum size, as the rules state today, is 2.5mW.

Exergy Energy is there to help! We can install, manage an maintain backup power and deliver it to you, “as-a-service”. We take care of the backup power, you focus on fulfilling your mission.

You can also handle it yourself.

Energy Procurement

Energy Procurement

Lower your costs by running a reverse auction pitting suppliers against each other. Choose the best mix of price and contract term. You have zero risk – If you don’t like the offers, you don’t have to sign.

Interested to reduce your organization’s carbon footprint? Select a zero-carbon or renewable energy contract to power your operations. Exergy finds you the best options.

Choose the contract length that best fits your needs. Do you think energy prices are going to decline? Then a short-term contract may be best. Do you think energy prices are set to rise? Then a multi-year, fixed price contract may be best.

If we manage your Backup Power facility, your contracted energy is automatically sold at market price when we self-generate, and Exergy shares the profits with you.

No middleman; contract directly with energy generators. Review bids, manage contracts, track energy usage, and receive guidance from Exergy (or you can self-serve).

What we need to get you a budgetary quote:

• Last 12 months electricity bills (and natural gas bills, if you use natural gas)

• A signed Letter of Authorization (LOA): permits your utility to provide Exergy your organization’s hourly interval data – This lets us determine the profile of your electricity demand so we can install a generator sized to your operation. Contact us for an LOA to complete.

• General information about your electrical loads, including planned expansions, efficiency upgrades, etc.
