The Paiton Power Station is a 4,700-megawatt coal-fired power plant in East Java, Indonesia. It is the 10th largest coal-fired power plant in the world.

Climate change is real and decarbonization is necessary. That being said, the preservation and improvement in global standard of living, is still the first priority. Let’s be real, no one is going to elect to reduce their standard of living for decarbonization. (human nature). Therefore, we need to be realistic and understand and plan for adaptation to climate change and the energy transition.

I recommend reading the following article. It does a great job of showing just how much the Paris agreement is an unrealistic dream. My message is not that you need to learn about coal use but rather to illustrate and underpin the need to prepare for more extreme weather and power outages.
