Ocean transport is regarded as one of the most difficult to decarbonize sectors of the economy. This is despite many decades of carbon free naval transport with nuclear powered subs and Aircraft carriers. The Chinese have decided to take a step forward and develop nuclear powered container ships.

This is certainly a positive development for the climate, but unfortunately, another it is also one more competitive advancement for China. Energy is commerce. Those with the lowest cost and most secure source of energy have an incredible competitive advantage. We really need to get our act together.
